The main problem we are analyzing in our paper is related with a question about the nature of History as a science and as a teaching subject. We try to find out if the changes in the didactics of history are real, natural needs, or if they have been artificially introduced in the educational system. Modern and postmodern theories about writing history and contemporary pedagogical demands in the field are analyzed in the first section of the paper. The next paragraphs present the most recent documents regarding teaching History in Romania, their structure and their demands. As supporting material, we analyze the Curriculum on History for different grades and some correspondent History text-books, with their additional materials. Our analyzis will be completed by some opinions expressed by teachers of History from different environments, regarding the efficiency of the old and new methods and strategies in teaching this discipline. The conclusion focuses on the current mindset of teachers of History regarding the analyzed issues.
